Cotton + Steel Modern Postage Stamp Quilt

Cotton + Steel Modern Postage Stamp Quilt
I have been sewing with a lot of Cotton + Steel fabrics these days which left me with a nice pile of scraps, so I decided it was time for a scrap quilt.

Aren't scrap quilts the best? For this one I used my Modern Postage Stamp quilt pattern and it was so quick and perfect for the little scraps of fabric I had sitting around.

I have been slowly, a little bit at a time, working on this quilt for the past few weeks and while I was working on it I was relishing how wonderful these prints are and how grateful I am that Cotton + Steel has contributed so much to the fabric industry. And then news came that the original Cotton + Steel designers will be leaving the brand. I don't know the circumstances behind their decision, but I hope they keep designing fabric.

I didn't quite have enough C+S scraps so I threw in a few solids.

And I cheated just a little bit and cut some of those little bears from yardage because they are just too perfect.

I knew that I wanted to use a sashing fabric that had some personality but that wouldn't distract from the rest of the quilt and this Cotton + Steel Add it Up print fit the bill.  It is a nice neutral color with tiny little bright orange plusses on it.
The quilting is an organic crosshatch - my favorite. The lines are pretty dense which gives the quilt a nice feel and texture.

The backing and binding fabrics are also Cotton + Steel - both are from the Printshop collection.

  1. Nice quilt! I admire your quilting, too, as I know it takes a long time to do that.

  2. I really really love this happy quilt!! It looks easy and hoo boy I have a lot of scraps, I could probably (if I was in quilting prison) whip up a few of these with my mountain of color party.
Thank you for sharing dear friend

    1. Thanks so much, Rosemary! It is a very simple pattern, which makes it lots of fun. My scrap situation is out of control so expect more scrap quilts in the future!

  3. Such a pretty quilt! I hear you on how much C&S has impacted us all. I love working with their fabrics and hope they manage to stay together somehow. They have a cooperative magic.

  4. I'm doing the leaders and enders for a postage stamp quilt. I will do mine with borders and sashing like yours rather than one big postage stamp. Cross hatching is my current fav quilting technique and have finished my last two quilts that way. Finishing a project in matchstick quilting now.
Cotton + Steel one of my fav fabric lines.
