When I commented on Rachel's blog to participate, I said that I would like to make some extra cushions for our floor. We live in a cozy little two bedroom townhouse and we could never really have too many pillows for extra seating.
I started out by making this one using some black yarn-dyed essex linen to make stitch and flip triangles. It fits a 24" pillow form. When I finished this one up, I realized that there was plenty of fabric left to make a second pillow.
For this one I used half rectangle triangles using this tutorial. I quilted it by echoing the zig zag with lines 1 inch apart and then added a few zig zags of hand quilting in orange perle cotton. It fits a 20 inch pillow form.
We have already put these guys to good use when hanging out in my kids room yesterday afternoon. They are nice for lounging.
For stacking.
And for tackling each other.
And here is the back. I used this tutorial to finish them up.
My daughter insisted that she needed to take a photo of me with one of the pillows. Yes, it's 3 in the afternoon and I'm still in my pajamas and have no makeup on. It was a holiday, don't judge me!
They are so cool! I love your pillows and the fact that @ 3 in the afternoon with no makeup and your pajamas you are so cute! I can promise I was looking much worse yesterday. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not judging...I would if I could!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I need to get a magnifying glass out because I can't read those house prices which I don't think would be as expensive as here anyway. It was in the paper last week that the average house prices here are around the $700,000 mark!
hello! i'm new to the blog! i love your fabric choices. could you tell me what lines they are from? thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the pillows and your family are just beautiful - great makes!

Erica, what a great job! Your photos are amazing too. I'm totally looking forward to sharing this when I get back on Monday! And congrats on your quilt being at QuiltCon!
ReplyDeleteErica these are wonderful. I love the pattern of your first and the mix of hand and machine quilting on the second. The black yarn-dyed linen complement the fabrics beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! The colors end up looking so cheerful together especially with the dark background and I like the quilting.
ReplyDeleteSo so beautiful! I'm glad I found your blog today!
