friends

*warning: this post has very little to do with sewing or quilting

Yesterday we drove up to Los Angeles to visit for the first time since we moved 5 months ago.  I kept telling myself that I don't miss the traffic and the smog and that I love living in San Diego so I can't really miss LA all that much.  I was so wrong.  There were lots of tears as we drove through West LA and were able to visit friends (and of course Sew Modern).

I miss it so much more than I realized and a big part of that is the friends that we made over the past 7 years.  This has made me reflect a lot on friends and the importance of having good friendships in my life.
I love that I can get together with friends I haven't seen in a few months or talk to friends I haven't seen since college and we are still friends.  And I am so grateful to have made friends through quilting and blogging.  In a way you are all my friends, some of you I know better than others and some of you I hope to get to know more in the future.
I have been feeling a little scattered lately and I feel like I can't keep up with anything - my house is a little too messy, I have let too many comments go without responding, and I have piles of unfinished projects cluttering my sewing room - but focusing on friends and what is really important has helped to straighten out my thoughts.  I love having this space to share projects (and sometimes my thoughts) and I am grateful you are all here on this journey with me.  Thanks for being my friends!

  8. I have been feeling the same way lately. Whenever I feel like I am productive in one area of my life (like sewing right now) and realize after a few weeks I've been completely neglecting another area (like visiting with friends, or cleaning). It seems to be impossible to keep up with everything and have balance!

  9. I had been feeling scattered lately too. All weekend I didn't do any Stitched work, just fun stuff or home stuff. That really helped! I hope you find your balance again this week =)

  10. Moving is so hard - I did it often as a child. Technology is a great way to keep in touch though visiting in person is the best! Thanks for your blog.

  11. Moving is very hard. We had to move 2 Hours away from our grown up children for my husbands job. We miss seeing our kids and grand kids. It has been hard.

  12. Remember you are a mom of young children and you cannot do it all. Your children look happy and healthy, you make beautiful quilts, you have made lovely things to decorate your new home, and a husband who loves you. Life is good.
