Welded Quilt

This is the third AGF Stitched quilt; this collaboration between the Fat Quarter Shop and Art Gallery Fabrics brings you free patterns and video tutorials.  My version of the first two quilts in this series can be found here and here.

I have the pleasure of introducing you to another quilt in the AGF Series: the Welded Quilt.  This one is a great beginner-friendly pattern and it is quick! and big!  It's just a few inches short of twin sized.

(Forgive the quilt hanging on the wall in my un-glamorous dining room.  My quilt photography assistant husband is working long hours and as nice as it was for my 7 year old to offer to help take photos, she just isn't tall enough.)

I have to be honest: when I was choosing fabrics for this quilt, my number one priority was to find a way to use that Hello Bear buck fabric.  It is amazing and the pattern had enough yardage that I could fussy cut bucks for the bucks in the center of the quilt.  This quilt is a great way to highlight your favorite prints.

This pattern lends itself well to a boy-ish color scheme so I combined the bucks and a couple of other Hello Bear prints with some equally amazing blue/green/teal-ish fabrics from Katarina Roccella's Imprint collection.  I ended up using one fewer print than the original pattern just because I wanted my range of colors to be pretty narrow.

Yes, there are bucks on the back too ;)

  1. Erica, our quilts could be twins :). Mine doesn't have your adorable bucks, but other than that we were pretty much going for the same boyish effect. Great minds, right?

  2. I love your version!! The narrow color pallet works SO beautifully. We had the same idea about the fussy cut center diamonds. I used the bucks from Utopia. Who knew that Welded would be so deer-drawing!
