The Fussy Cut Sampler QAL - Blocks 9-12

The QAL is moving along and I have another set of blocks to share.  These were made using blocks 9-12 in The Fussy Cut Sampler book.
Fussy Cut Sampler QAL Block 9
I used some of the leftover scraps from the Alice Quilt backing fabric for this one.  There is so much fun detail in the print.  I didn't realize until I finished the block that 3/4 of the fabrics have some metallic on them!
Fussy Cut Sampler QAL Block 10
This was one of the most difficult blocks for me so far.  It is meant to show value and my first attempt at the block didn't illustrate this very well so I made a second one.

This block was supposed to be about transparency, but I took it a little bit of a different direction because I was having a difficult time finding the right fabric combo and I really wanted to use these flowers.

I cut into my precious stash of Constellations for this block.  The point of the block was to play with scale - a smaller and larger scale version so I went with a star and a constellation.

It's not too late to join into the quilt along over on Instagram - check out #thefussycutsamplerqal to see by the other participants.

  1. All of these blocks are great but I especially love that last one. That block would look great in a pillow to go along with your wonderful Constellations quilt.
