Gleaned Baby Quilt

Gleaned Baby Quilt
A pattern for this quilt is now available in my shop!

I had a bit of a mental battle on what to do with the Gleaned fabrics that were in the February Culcita Box so I went with the quilter's version of Occam's razer: the simpler option is always better.

While large, complicated projects can be their own kind of fun, there is something so nice about sewing something simple (this is something I have been thinking about a lot lately and, hint hint, there are some simple, quick, beginner-friendly patterns coming in the near future).

Carolyn Friedlander's have such a wonderful texture and I wanted the quilt to show them off.

For the backing, I used one of Carolyn's Crisscross prints. The binding is a dark gray and I used big stitches to sew it down on the back of the quilt.

  2. Oh! I like the big stitches on the binding. That isn't something I would have thought to do.

  4. Love that big stitch look! You probably just started a new trend! :) Is that machine or hand sewn? And if machine, what size stitches did you use?
