If you saw my last post, you got a sneak peek at this quilt. These fabrics are from the May Culcita Box and they were PERFECT for making a new cover for my Glenda Quilt Pattern.
Since I just had fat quarters of the fabrics I wasn't sure if I could make it work, but I had some yardage of the Cotton + Steel Basics prints and ordered an extra fat quarter of a couple of the prints and it worked out perfectly. I have been sewing with so many blues and greens lately that this was a really fun change.

The quilting is an organic crosshatch - I love the texture that it gives the quilt so I have started doing it on almost all of my projects.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a suitable backing fabric in my stash - it is a Denyse Schmidt plaid and (other than buying a print from the Santa Fe collection) I couldn't have asked for a better fit.
The binding is a black solid and I sewed it down with my usual big stitch method.
I took the occasion to redo the graphics for this pattern and it is currently on sale in my shop through the end of the week. I have also ordered a paper version of the pattern it should be here in the next week or two. Being able to see my patterns in print form has been very satisfying and I am excited to expand my selection!

This is drop dead gorgeous. I love it so much. It makes me want to buy the pattern and the fabrics and make an exact copy.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You should go for it!
DeleteVery cool quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love the way you hand stitch the binding on the back too, I might try that instead of the old fashioned way.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I LOVE binding this way. There is a tutorial in my "Tutorials" section if you want more info.
DeleteThat is lovely ...very effective
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the peach and turquoise together, two of my favorite colors. Looked on Pinterest for quilts named for the Trails - Santa Fe Trail, Oregon Trail, etc. and yours came up, so I had to come look.
ReplyDeleteIt was tremendously wonderful innovation. I love you Glenda Quilt Pattern seriously. I personally feel a deep weakness to fabric to use as it make me more cozy and happy. I trailed to the end of your sweet effort and enjoyed so much. I also found some color combination to pick up to my decor ideas. Cordial thanks for expanding your selection and helpful websites for your fans and decor hunters. By the way may I put my favorite decor site here please and it's duvet covers
