Break of Day Quilt

Sunrise Katie Quilt - Kitchen Table Quilting
I have had a stack of solids pulled for a sunrise (sunset?) colored quilt for a little while and I am so glad that I finally got a chance to use it.

This was made using my new Katie Quilt pattern. I wanted to show how versatile the pattern is - it can look so different based on your fabric selections. I started with the darkest, bluest purples in the middle, and then moved outward in rainbow order. These are some of my favorite colors, this project was a blast!

A few people on Instagram requested that I write up a list of the fabrics that I used in my quilt. If you are interested, you can download it (for free) in my shop. Since I was working from my stash, I used a mixture of different brands of solids. The list of fabrics lists both the actual name/brand of each solid that I used as well as the closest Kona equivalent.

While most of them are close enough equivalents, I have never found a peach fabric that I loved as much as Pure Elements Grapefruit. I go through TONS of it.

Since the front of the quilt had plenty of color going on, I backed the quilt in Carolyn Friedlander Widescreen. The binding fabric was the only solid from the quilt that had enough left over to make a binding - it is Kona Camellia.

  1. Gorgeous quilt - I love your color choices. I'm so bad at visualizing how patterns will look with different fabrics so I love seeing projects like this.

  2. Love this idea! Was hoping for quantities of the colors but that would be a real effort to determine! Thanks.

    1. Yes, I'm sorry. I thought about it and would have loved to include that info if I had infinite time!

  3. Oh the saturated colors on this quilt are so yummy! I just finished a quilt for my daughter using your design called The Betty Quilt. I just posted about it tonight. :)
