But this year I have decided it is time to start cutting into that precious stuff . . . but I didn't want to cut it TOO much. That is where the idea for this pattern was born.
The Rachel Quilt is a layer cake friendly pattern (I actually cut my 10" squares from fat quarters, it still worked out fine!) that highlights your favorite fabrics without having to cut them up into tiny little pieces.
I introduced this quilt last week with my pattern tester's quilts, but I wanted to share a little more about my version.
This is my second time making this pattern (first version here) and it is remarkably fast to put together. It is perfect for an experienced beginner and beyond.
I was a little worried about mixing the voile prints with quilting cottons, but everything sewed up beautifully. The backing and binding are also Little Folks Voile so the whole quilt is light and soft and silky.
In addition to the voile prints, I used two of my all time favorite solids for this quilt:
- Kona Pewter (the best warm gray)
- Designer Essential Solid (Free Spirit) in Natural (the best not-white white)
The Rachel Quilt pattern is available in my shop as a PDF or a paper pattern, heave over and pick up a copy for yourself!
