Pixel Love Scrap Quilt

I talked a little in my last post about my scrap goals for the year: one scrap quilt each month until my scrap bin is (more or less) bare.

In February, I started this quilt with ambitions to finish before Valentine's Day and I finally finished the sewing down the binding last week. Scrap quilt number one took a long time, but it's done!

I did have to cut a little bit from my stash because I have almost no purple scraps, but all of the neutrals and almost all of the pinks came right from the good old scrap bin.

There is a tutorial available for this quilt and I followed the tutorial except I left the borders off of my quilt; I only had one good backing option in my stash and I wouldn't have had quite enough if I had added the borders.




For the quilting, I did a simple crosshatch. When the squares on the quilt are this small, I usually just eyeball where the lines should be and don't bother marking them. They end up a little wibbly wobbly, but nothing too noticeable.

The binding is an Anna Maria Horner voile. I think this is the first time I have done a voile binding and it was a dream to work with. The backing fabric is from Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy reprint.





Even though I didn't finish the quilt in time for Valentine's Day, it is ready to go for next year!
