The Ruth Quilt - A New Fat Eighth/Fat Quarter Friendly Pattern

One of my goals with designing patterns lately has been creating patterns that (1) work with that super fun new fabric collection and (2) work as stashbusting patterns with all of that super fun fabric that you already have.

The Ruth Quilt Pattern in Purl - Kitchen Table Quilting

The Ruth Quilt works beautifully for both - the quilt on the cover features a new collection from Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society called Purl and the colors are absolute perfection. I am a huge RSS fan, but this most recent batch of collections really speak to me.

The pattern is fat eighth or fat quarter friendly and could really be cobbled together with whatever leftover pieces you have laying around. Plus, since the sashing fabric works to unify the other colors you use in your quilt, you can throw together fabrics from lots of different collections and it will still work.

Another great thing - if you press your seams to the side, they will nest. That makes piecing the quilt a breeze and helps your points line up nicely. I am normally a seams-pressed-open type of person, but when seams nest this nicely, I can't pass that up.

I will be sharing more about my Purl version and my pattern testers' versions later this week, but I wanted to give you a few examples of how much fun this pattern can be mocked up in different collections.

Here is the quilt mocked up in Mystical Land by Maureen Cracknell . . .
