This collection is all of the things Denyse does best - it's vintage but also modern and it's bold but also muted. There are florals, plaids, and strips. So much goodness.
It was a perfect fit for Penny - actually, I think this pattern would work exceptionally well with any of her collections and I am wishing I had enough of her older Chicopee collection to make another version.
One thing that always interests me about a new pattern is how it will look in different fabrics - it's so interesting how fabric choice can make a pattern look completely different!
I am super excited for this collection to be release and will definitely be picking up some yardage - the plaids in particular would be perfect for a backing fabric.
If you would like to make your own version of the Penny Quilt Pattern, you can pick up a copy in the shop!
Wondering if you can add which fabric from her collection you used for A,B,C and D. Plus the fabric for the backing and the binding. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLet's see - this collection is only 19 prints and the pattern calls for 21 plus a Fabric D, so I used two of them twice but let me see if I can make a list:
DeleteFabric A
Wafer plaid in pink
Ding dong in orange
Candy stripe in cyan
Pixy plaid in dark green
Floral toss in ivory
Dots in navy
Itty bitty in red
Fabric B
Ding dong in navy
Pixy plaid in blue
Candy stripe in orange
Dots in yellow
Pop posey in blue
Itty bitty in lime
Wafer plaid in light blue
Fabric C
Pixy plaid in red
Pixy plaid in dark green
Floral toss in navy
Itty bitty in red
Wafer plaid in pink
Ding dong in orange
Candy stripe in yellow
The sashing (Fabric D) is Kona Ash. The binding is a navy solid and the backing is an older Denyse Schmidt plaid - I think it was called windowpane or something like that.
Can you use 1/4 yard cuts instead of fat quarters for the Penny Quilt???? Thanks in advance for our response!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes - for the fat quarters, you can use 1/4 yard cuts!
