Lots of Pink Baby Quilt

I have always been a fan of darker, more muted colors.  So when I started quilting I found something surprising: I really like pink.  And not just the sweet, soft pinks, but the bright, crazy pinks.  So for no particular reason I decided the other day that I needed to make a pink quilt.

Quilt held by my sister-in-law, thanks Denise!
I decided to make a hexagon quilt because they are fun and they are fairly quick and it's not a shape that I work with very often.  And other than squares, it seems to be the shape that I most closely associate with quilts.

I quilted it with an "organic" grid again.  It isn't precise or perfect looking, but I love the feel it gives to the finished quilt.

My color inspiration came from this great Sarah Jane quilt.  That bunny is too cute.

The binding fabric is a new favorite: Kona Punch.

Finished size: 40" x 49"
Backing: Sommer Bloom Tulip Tangled (available here, here, here, or here)
Binding: Kona Punch (available here)
Batting: Quilter's Dream Cotton Select

This quilt is now listed in my Etsy shop.

  3. Do you have "leftovers" from this quilt??? Would you want to do a scrap exchange? I have some that we could see if you would like to have...

  9. LOVE the "organic" grid quilting Erica! I think that's what discourages me from grid quilting the most...having to worry about the straightness or evenness of my lines. I will have to give this a try!

  10. I too have recently realized that I love pink in all of its shades. I love giant hexagons.

  11. I'm a pink person too! I've never worked with hexagons as they always seemed too teeny tiny, but maybe big ones like yours would work out OK for me. Did you use an acrylic shape to cut them with? Congratulations on your lovely finish.
