At the top there is my new logo, links to pages (there is a contact form, links to tutorials, patterns, and everything else). Just to the right are the social media buttons with links to Email, Pinterest, Instagram, Bloglovin, my RSS feed, and Flickr. On the far right is a search bar.
When you first open the blog you will see this large image that will show recent popular posts. It scrolls between the photos every 5 seconds or so and you can click on the post to view it. Underneath are links to my Patterns, Etsy Shop, and Tutorials.
Right under that is a new feature - a place to sign up for my email list. I have been considering this for a while, but I wasn't sure people would be interested. Emily over at Quilty Love keeps saying they are important and people like them so I am going to give it a try!
If you decide to sign up, here is what you can expect: a monthly-ish email with photos of recent finishes, info about new patterns, potential pattern discounts (that will be exclusive to email subscribers), and a new project that I am going to be starting next year. I will be doing a series of monthly tutorials next year featuring super-sized quilt blocks. The tutorial will be on the blog and included in the newsletter.
And then after all of that, you will find find a list of recent blog posts (this is the most recent). It still has the comments, but now has an easy way to share on social media.
I hope that you all enjoy the changes. I am hoping to continue to make the blog more useful and helpful over the next year and would love any suggestions that you might have!
Not sure why people are writing newsletters instead of including it in blog. Seems redundant. I personally hate increasing the amt of emails I receive.
ReplyDeleteThank you for responding, I actually agree with you. I am rethinking the idea and think I might just include information that is also on the blog. I think the idea is that there are fewer and fewer people taking the time to read blogs, they are mostly looking at Instagram, so the email is a reminder that there are still blogs out there!

DeleteLove your updated look -that logo!~! Mwah! And I love getting an email from which I can click over to the blog to finish reading the article. I tried Instagram, but honestly, I'm not much of a fan of it. I like emails, blogs, and checking out facebook (except when it's too frustrating!ha!). Thanks for the tour of your "new place!"
