City Grid Quilt

I recently volunteered to test a pattern for Meghan over at Then Came June. Even though I have been really busy lately, I love testing patterns and it looked like a fun step outside of my comfort zone.

And it was. The pattern was easy to follow and quick, but choosing fabrics was a little scary since this quilt is more modern what I normally make.

It's hard to tell from the photo at the top of the post, but my background fabric has a light gray grid. I knew that I didn't want to use a solid, but I didn't want to go totally crazy.

For the grid fabrics, I used a rainbow of pastels, which is also a little out of my comfort zone. My initial fabric pull was my normal bright colors, but I wanted to do something different. I was surprised I had this many pastels in my stash!

The backing fabric is a super soft, lightweight Palos Verdes voile that I have had in my stash for a while. The binding is the orange pastel solid (I think its an Art Gallery Pure Elements Solid) and I hand sewed the binding to the back of the quilt using my normal big stitch binding.

My 2 year old wanted to be included in this photos. I love his "cheese" smile :)

    1. Thanks! Did you mean the lines on the white/gray fabric? I didn't line them up, but since the squares aren't touching, they kind of look like I did.
