My stash of fussy cut-able prints really took a hit when I made my Fussy Cut Sampler quilt last year so finding prints that were the right colors took some work, but I am so happy with how this colorful, fun little quilt turned out.
I started by picking the solid colors and then filled in the fussy cut prints from my stash.
For the quilting, I did my normal organic grid. The backing fabric is a woven gingham fabric from Robert Kaufman and it is wonderfully soft. The binding is sewn down with Perle Cotton (tutorial here).
The batting is Happy Cloud Cotton batting from Fat Quarter Shop. It has become my go-to batting choice because it is quality but also inexpensive (it is also on sale right now!).
Finished Size: 36" x 48"
Pattern: The Olivia Quilt Pattern
Fabric: Various prints and solids
Batting: Happy Cloud in Cotton
This is SO pretty!! I just love your mix of colors. Is the gingham you used Carolina Gingham?
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! Yes, it is the Carolina Gingham. I have used it a couple times as backing fabric and I really like it.
DeleteThis quilt is so happy-looking, and I can just imagine a child loving the special I-spy fabrics. Actually, I think I could enjoy the different special fabrics! It would make me smile every time I cuddled under the quilt, and I'm 69!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think adults can appreciate I spy quilts just as much as kids!
DeleteI adore I Spy quilts - my first quilt was one! I save every bit of fun fabric for potential use in future projects. I love this!
ReplyDeleteThey are so fun to make and kids love them. Thank you!
DeleteThis is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! And glad to hear the Happy Cloud batting is good quality, I bought a king size for a quilt because the price can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have been very happy with the batting. It seems very similar to the thinnest Quilter’s Dream batting.
