So for this quilt, there isn't a full-quilt shot, but I still wanted to show it to you.
I have had a stack of Anna Maria Horner voile sitting on my shelf for several years and I was too afraid to use it. But after making this quilt, I knew that I just needed to get over my fear and make something.

I decided that I wanted to just cut up as many voile squares as I could and then make them into a giant quilt. These squares are 3.5" finished and my quilt ended up 84" x 98".

Since I went with simple patchwork squares, I decided to do something a little fun with the corners.

They are rounded! I used a bowl to draw a curve at the corners and then made bias binding for the quilt. Making continuous bias binding is, without a doubt, my least favorite sewing task but sometimes it is worth it.

I am excited to have this quilt finished for summer because it is so wonderfully lightweight and soft. Have you made a quilt using just voile? I highly recommend it! A lot of these prints have gotten tricky to find, but check Etsy if you are looking to pick some up (especially this post).
Finished Size: 84" x 98"
Fabric: Various Anna Maria Horner Voile (mostly Little Folks)
Batting: Happy Cloud Cotton Batting
What a fun quilt! Totally worthy of all those great prints.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was so scary to use them up but I'm glad I did it!
DeleteReally Pretty Anna Maria. I love scrappy. Each piece is a treasure, right??
ReplyDeleteYeah❤️😂
This quilt is really fabulous. I tend to avoid lightweight fabrics thinking they'll wear out faster, but the idea of a large quilt that is more lightweight is VERY appealing. Thx for sharing!
