The Kelly Quilt in Idyllic

Getting this post up on the blog was on my list for Monday, so that should tell you a little bit about how this week is going 😜 We are getting close to school starting (well, school-from-home as we are distance learning here until at least mid-November) so things have been a little nuts.

Last week I introduced you to the Kelly Quilt Pattern and this week I get to show you my second version of the quilt.

The Kelly Quilt in Idyllic - Kitchen Table Quilting

Minki Kim has a really beautiful new collection coming out this month called Idyllic and she was nice enough to send me a bundle to work with. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would work perfectly with my Kelly pattern

Instead of pairing up similar colors like I did in my first quilt, I paired  fabrics with a lot of contrast. For example, the first column of blocks uses the small scale, dark gray print paired with a large scale bright yellow print. Pairing colors with very different values and print scales works really well with this pattern.

This collection also has a bias stripe print in 3 different colors (I only used the coral and yellow here, it also comes in navy blue) - I love striped prints, but especially bias stripes (they work great for bindings!) and they were really fun to work with in this pattern.

I enjoyed making these two versions so much that I started yet another one this week - this one uses rainbow solids to create a transparency effect with the blocks. If you want to follow along with my fabric selection process, you can find that in my story highlights

I will be sharing more about that rainbow version here soon. If you would like to pick up your own copy of the Kelly Quilt Pattern, you can find it in my shop!
