The Judy Quilt - Halloween Version

The week of Halloween, I decided I needed a Halloween Quilt. Since I had just released The Judy Quilt Pattern and I knew that it was a quick quilt to put together, I decided to use the pattern.

Generally I don't buy holiday fabrics, so my stash of Halloween fabrics was (almost) nonexistent. Instead, I picked a variety of fall-ish/Halloween-ish fabrics and got to work.

Since there are a lot of patterns and colors going on with my fabric choices, I decided to use the darker value prints as the "frames" in the pattern. From there, I matched each darker color print with a coordinating lighter color print.

On Monday, I cut out my fabrics. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I pieced the quilt top. On Thurdsay, I basted, quilted, and sewed the binding onto the front of the quilt. On Friday, I finished up the quilt by hand sewing the binding. It was a whirlwind, but I got it done and we were able to enjoy the quilt for our Halloween movie night.

I didn't plan a backing fabric before I started my quilt and wasn't able to find any good options in my stash. On Thursday morning I was cleaning out some clutter in my room and found a package with this backing fabric - perfect timing because it was the perfect backing option

I have now made the Judy Quilt Pattern five times (I still have one more to share) and will definitely be making it again in the future - it is quick, fat quarter friendly, and really shows off your fabric. If you are looking to make a quick holiday project, this is a fun one!
