The Plaid-ish Quilt in Warp & Weft

There has been so many beautiful version of my Plaid-ish quilt tutorial posted on Instagram (check out the hashtag, it's amazing!) and I have been really wanting to make another one.

The Plaid-ish Quilt in Warp and Weft - Kitchen Table Quilting

A while back I made this quilt and this quilt using Warp & Weft by Alexia Abegg and then more recently I got to make another quilt using some new prints that she added to the collection (the collection is called Warp & Weft Heirloom, I will share more about that quilt soon!). The leftovers of both projects were perfect for a new Plaid-ish Quilt.

These fabrics are woven and although that makes them slightly trickier to work with (they are a little stretchy and crinkly and soft!) they are wonderfully soft and have gorgeous depth. They are totally worth the extra effort.

Since many of them are plaid, making a Plaid-ish quilt seemed like a natural extension. I don't have all of the prints from either collection, but I did have a good selection of mid and dark valued fabrics plus a bunch of one light valued fabric. It was perfect!

This one is backed in wideback minky, just like my original Plaid-ish and Plaid-ish 2 quilts! They are the most used quilts in my house because (1) they are large, (2) the combo of minky on the black and woven fabrics on the front is incredibly soft, and (3) they are heavy and my kids love that they are almost like a weighted blanket.

It was really fun to revisit this pattern after seeing so many gorgeous versions made by other people. There is no shortage of scraps around here, so I am sure I will make it again!

  1. Do you have a practice color sheet for this quilt like you provided with Plaid-ish quilts 1 and 2? Very helpful! Thank you for this quilt version!

    1. This would be just like Plaid-ish 1, you can use the coloring sheet for that one!

  2. Is the tutorial for the quilt shown above available? I believe it is the original Plaid-ish. It seems to have more dark 5 1/2" squares. The Plaidish 2 has only light colored 5 1/2" squares. I really like the look of this one. Thank you.
