A while ago I realized that it had been ages since I had made a baby quilt which is crazy because they are my favorite thing to make! Now that I am not as young as I once was, most of my friends are done having kids and I just don't have any babies around.
But then I remembered that I can make whatever I want and I want to make more baby quilts. Conveniently enough, my cousin and his wife are having a baby boy so I decided they needed a baby version of the Sylvie Quilt.
For my fabrics, I actually started with the backing fabric and then pulled a bunch of coordinating prints/solids. I have had this Sarah Jane Children at Play print in my stash for ages and thought it was just perfect for a baby boy.
I relied on basics from my stash (plus a couple of solids) to coordinate with the backing fabric - there are a lot of Cotton + Steel/Ruby Star Society prints, some dots, stripes, etc. I wanted to keep it pretty simple and not distracting.
If I thought the lap size version of this pattern was quick, the baby size came together in a jiffy. It took me more time to decide on fabrics than it did to make the quilt! This is going to be my go-to pattern for baby quilts in the future - it would be an easy last minute baby shower gift (because I am always last minute with this type of thing!).
If you would like to make your own version of the Sylvie Quilt Pattern, you can pick it up in the shop.
