A Pink and Purple Violet Quilt

A while back when we did the Violet QAL, I made 3 different versions of my Violet Quilt Pattern and never blogged about them! Such a slacker - not only that, I didn't even photograph them until a couple of weeks ago. Time to fix that.

One nice thing about making multiple versions of a single pattern in a relatively short period of time, is that you can focus on making them unique. Sometimes when I make a quilt, I don't have a very focused idea - I just want to like it. Since I knew I would be making multiple versions, I wanted them to have a "theme" - I decided on a pink and purple quilt, a rainbow quilt, and a quilt that used more muted colors. This one is (obviously) the pink and purple quilt.

I am a child of the 90s and the pink and purple combo is just about my favorite thing. I used the backing fabric as my color inspiration (this Heather Ross print that I also used on the front of the quilt) and loved that it also involved some green. I think that helped make the quilt seem a little more grown up.

From there, I pulled a variety of purples and pink/purples form my stash. No surprise that I ended up using most of my favorite designers (Heather Ross, Denyse Schmidt, Lizzy House) plus some favorite basics (love that Joel Dewberry Herringbone).

Some of these prints have been in my stash for a long, long time so it was nice to work with them and see them all together.

If you would like to make your own version of the Violet Quilt, make sure to check out the posts from the QAL and you can pick up a copy in my shop.
