A Rainbow Cleo Quilt Part 2

If I had to pick between sewing with prints or solids forever, I would definitely choose prints. But sometimes solids are just right for a project.

I love the memories associated with prints - the cute details, the fun designs. They are so much fun. I hadn't originally intended to separate my solid and print scraps when I decided to make a rainbow version of the Cleo Quilt Pattern, but I am so glad I did.

Since I made these one right after the other, it was really enjoyable to compare working with the two different versions. The prints version is fun and I don't like it any less than the solids version, but making this quilt felt magical.

I love how the solids version has a watercolor-like look to it. Also, since I had lots of pink and orange solid scraps, I had them go through the middle of the quilt instead of having them in the upper corner and I love how it turned out.

When I was photographing the quilts, I offset the them a little bit so that the rainbow would continue from one quilt onto the other. So much rainbow goodness!

I ended up finishing off both quilts very similarly. They both have a blue backing and coral binding - I didn't do this consciously, it just felt like the right choice for both quilts.

Scrap quilts can be time consuming and rainbow scrap quilts are even more time consuming, but they are so worth it. Which version do you prefer?

    1. Thanks! One of my favorite things lately has been photographing different versions of the same pattern together.
