A Rainbow Violet Quilt

I am finally sharing the last Violet quilt I made as part of the Violet QAL a few months ago - phew, I'm almost caught up on sharing all of my finished quilts!

Picking fabrics for a project is definitely my favorite part of the entire process and I got a little carried away - I made 3 different quilts during the QAL (you can find the other two here and here). I knew that I wanted to make a rainbow version so I decided to use some of my Anna Maria Horner stash to make it happen.

I have made a rainbow version of the pattern before and I have also made an AMH version, but apparently I needed to make a rainbow AMH version too. This one was lots of fun to put together.

Some of my favorite quilts to make have been ones that used a combination of older and newer prints. It is nice to use up the old favorites in my stash but also mix them up a little bit by throwing in something new.

This pattern works well with solids or more muted colors, but I think it really shines with bold prints and AMH is the absolute best a bold prints.

The Violet Quilt - Rainbow AMH Version

The sashing fabric is Designer Essentials in Natural and it is one I keep coming back to these days - it's not off white exactly but it's not tan or gray. It's somewhere between all of those so it works with pretty much anything.

The backing fabric is a newer-ish AMH print that has birds on it - I don't remember the name! There was a time when I knew the name of every new fabric collection that was coming out and remembered which collection every print was from, but I just can't keep up with it anymore.

If you would like to make your own rainbow version, AMH version, or rainbow AMH version of the pattern, you can find the it in my shop!

  1. We've had plenty of rain here in the East so we might as well make rainbow quilts!
