One of the reasons that I rarely make holiday quilts is that I start them, get distracted by something else, and then all of a sudden the holiday passes and I never finish the quilt. It has happened on almost every holiday-related quilt I have made.
A couple of years ago, I started a Christmas version of my Nancy quilt pattern a few weeks before Christmas and you will never guess what happened . . . let's just say that there is a reason why this blog post didn't show up two years ago. The finished quilt top has been sitting around for 2 years and I just recently got it quilted and bound.
Even though it isn't December, I didn't want this quilt to get lost again so here is a Christmas in July post. This quilt is quick (it's strip pieced) and easy to put together and worked very nicely with a variety of solids from my stash.
The original version of this pattern used Bonnie and Camille prints and that was a lot of fun but I was curious how it would look with solids.
The backing fabric is actually a flannel flat sheet that I picked up at Target a couple of years ago. The binding is Kona Navy.
One interesting thing about this quilt was that I noticed how much I have my piecing has improved in the last couple of years - there were lots of seams that didn't match up very nicely on this quilt. I didn't think I had improved much over the last couple of years, but it is nice to know that I have!
If you would like to make your own version of the Nancy Quilt pattern, you can pick up a copy in the shop!
Love this. Do you remember the colors you used?
ReplyDeleteI wish I did! I know I used Kona Navy and Kona Ash but I am not sure on the rest. I'm sorry!
DeleteErica. Did you know that recently your emails show up as a tiny thin strip down the center of my page? It is so annoying as it's almost impossible to find the read more line. It would be lovely if that could be corrected. 😊 I love this Nancy quilt in Christmas colors!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that - I'm sorry! I will see if I can figure out what the issue is.
DeleteOh, I love this version!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis is great! So glad it's DONE!!

DeleteThis quilt turned out great. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove this pattern, is it jelly toll friendly?
ReplyDeleteI wish it was but the strips are too wide for a jelly roll.
