This new Honey collection by Alexia Abegg is so vibrant and beautiful and I was honored to get to use it for the cover version of the Elena Quilt pattern.
I am a huge fan of Alexia's work and this collection just feels like the best combination of all of it. It is printed on quilting cotton, but it reminds me a lot of her Warp and Weft collections. The colors are bold and vivid and that's just how I like them.
This pattern is fat quarter or fat eighth friendly and this quilt was made with fat eighths. I love the option for fat eighths because you get just the right amount of each fabric while still having a ton of variety.
The collection has such a good selection of color and scale. The fabrics work really well together and aren't too busy even though there is a lot going on. I particularly love the Granny Square prints. These prints are also available in canvas and I think I need to get one for a tote bag? Something? I will think of a reason.
There are some really beautiful Add it Up prints included int he collection. The Black on Natural is the background fabric here and the Blue Ribbon print is used for the cornerstones. Add it Up is one of my favorite basics and all 5 of the prints here (the black on natural, buttercup, warm red, dusk, and blue ribbon) need to become staples in my stash. They are gorgeous.
The backing fabric is one of Alexia's 108" prints - this one is called Moonglow. I have loved this print ever since I made this quilt a few years ago.
Sorry for the photo overload, I couldn't help it with this one! If you would like to make your own quilt just like this one, you can pick up a copy of the pattern in the shop and Honey should be available in shops next month.
