The Sadie Quilt in Picnic

Today I am going to be re-sharing the quilt that originally inspired the Sadie Quilt Pattern — this is the Sadie Quilt in Picnic.

The Sadie Quilt in Picnic - Kitchen Table Quilting

It's funny reading the original blog post about this quilt, because I completely forgot that I did a few custom order quilts. To be honest, I do not particularly enjoy custom order quilts because I like to work on my own crazy schedule, but this quilt in particular was a lot of fun. The customer wanted me to use this collection (Picnic by Melody Miller) and I hadn't been able to justify buying the collection for myself so I was happy to have the excuse.

I really liked this collection when I saw it, but by the time I was done making the quilt, I really LOVED the collection. To me, that is the sign of a really talented designer.

One thing that I really like about this pattern is that the background fabric goes between the feature fabrics so none of the feature fabrics touch each other. This makes a pattern that is very versatile for fabric selection. It's a lot of fun.

I wish I could say that this fabric collection is still available, but I made this quilt about 7 years ago so I am sure it is long gone. The pattern is available though! You can pick up the paper or PDF copy of the pattern in my shop.
