Quilt Ideas - Florida 2

I have some fun mockups for you today! These are all using Florida 2 by Sarah Watts. A while back I shared my Freya Quilt pattern which uses the collection, but the fabric wasn't quite available yet - you know how that goes these days!

This collection has some great purples and one of my current favorite color combinations (peach with a minty green). I have only been to Florida once (on a band trip in the 9th grade) and I live just about as far away from Florida as you can get and still be in the contiguous 50 states, but I just adore this collection.

Sincerely Yours - Quilt Ideas

It has been a little bit since I did one of these posts - the Penny QAL has taken over my life! -  but I saw Sincerely Yours by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda and it looked like the perfect collection for some mockups.

The Iris Quilt in Tula Pink - Kitchen Table Quilting

As a child of the 80s/early 90s, I love pink and purple together and these collection really leans into those color combinations. And it has the cutest heart prints.

A Baby Size Naomi Quilt

Writing this post earlier this week reminded me of a quilt that I had never shared with you - this is a baby size version of the Naomi Quilt Pattern

The Naomi Quilt (Baby Size) - Kitchen Table Quilting

I have a pretty large stash of baby size backing fabrics in my stash - but most of my friends are done having kids so I rarely make baby quilts this days. But I've decided I'm just going to make them anyway.

The Naomi Quilt - Shot Cotton Valentine Version

I have a rule for myself with my quilting: do not start something you won't finish. It has mostly served me well, but it does mean that I end up with fewer spontaneous projects; if I am going to take the time/energy/resources to make something, I like to put some thought into it first.

But occasionally an idea will pop into my head and I just can't help myself. For the past few months I have had a bin of leftover shot cotton scraps sitting on my sewing room floor. They were mostly from this quilt, plus I have added to them here or there over the past few years and used bits and pieces of them in other projects. Last time I did a deep clean of my sewing room, I couldn't find a place for the bin so it just lived on my floor.

Even though they are a bit of hodgepodge color-wise, there are a lot of pinks and purples in that bin (my favorites!) and they were just perfect for a Valentine's Quilt.

The Naomi Quilt - Pattern Testers' Quilts

I am glad you are all as excited about the Naomi Quilt pattern as I am! Today I get to share my pattern testers' quilts - this is something I always look forward to, but for this quilt, I am extra excited to show them to you. Each of the quilts used dark/light fabrics in different places and it really transforms the pattern.

It just always blows me away what a difference fabric choices can make - I could make as many versions of the quilt as my brain could imagine, but I could never come up with the ideas that my pattern testers' (or you) might have. It is absolutely my favorite thing to have someone make a pattern their own.

The Naomi Quilt Pattern - Adorn Version

You would never guess this if you knew me in real life (I pretty much only wear gray, black, or navy) but I LOVE neon colors. Maybe it's because I am a child of the late 80s/early 90s, but neon is amazing. Especially pink.

When I saw Rashida Coleman Hale's new collection Adorn, I knew that I had to work with it. It looks like something that could have come right out of my childhood, except a little more modernized.

One of the things I love about this collection is that while there are some fun novelty prints, there are some really great basics too. The prints with the crosshatch grid are great stash staples, especially because these bright colors can be hard to find. That coral! Be still my heart.

New Pattern - The Naomi Quilt

The Naomi Quilt - Kitchen Table Quilting184-Edit

One of my favorite things to do when I make a quilt is to mix different fabrics - sometimes solids and sometimes prints - to make fun fabric combinations. This works better with some patterns than with others, and I am always on the lookout for a pattern that lends itself well to fun combinations. Today I have one for you - meet The Naomi Quilt!

When I first drafted up The Naomi Quilt Pattern, I knew I had to share it with you - it works really well with unique fabric combinations and also looks great with more traditional pairings.
