A few weeks ago we had a little chat within the wish circle of do good stitches and thought it would be fun to do a swap. It is a great way to get to know more about other people in the group, plus it is just fun to make something for someone else. Since I signed up for a couple of other swaps that are due around the same time, I thought I would get started on something for my partner so I don't get overwhelmed.
I don't want to share too much about what I made (I cannot show the lining, I think it would be too big of a hint!) since this is a blind swap, but I really enjoyed making this and I was too excited to keep it to myself. I have been wanting to do something with triangles since I saw Holly's quilt, and they were really fun to make.
This project was very enjoyable. Until the very end. After the tote was 100% done, I put it over my shoulder and realized that I had made the straps WAY TOO LONG. The thought of ripping out stitches to fix the straps was excruciating. But I couldn't send this to someone with straps that were about 10" too long. So I fixed it, but it was painful.
This is a pretty big tote bag, so to make sure the straps wouldn't have a problem I may have gone a little overboard with the zig zag stitching. It has it inside and outside, but better safe than sorry!
This is really lovely !
ReplyDeleteI love it, and love the equilateral triangles. I keep meaning to do something triangle-based, other than HSTs which I'm rather sick of at the moment!!
ReplyDeleteI love the triangles... about to quilt my own triangles cushion and may get inspired!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I'm still waiting for fabric to arrive for my partner. I'm afraid if she even sees the fabric she will know.
