Labeling Your Quilts (with coupon code)

Do your label your quilts? For several years, I didn't use labels at all. It seemed like an extra step and I am not into adding extra steps to my process.

But then a while ago, the people at Dutch Label Shop offered to send me some labels, and now I am sold. Labels only take a minute to sew onto the quilt and are actually pretty fun.

Sometimes I give quilts away to friends or family and it turns out that they like having the quilts labeled. Dutch Label Shop has tons of sizes, colors, and options so you can create just about anything that you can imagine.

  1. Question: It looks like you sewed those labels to the back of the quilt after the quilting. Doesn't that stitching show on the front?

    1. When I first tried adding a label, I added it to the backing fabric before quilting, but I discovered that I didn't like quilting over the label. If you look at the pictures you can see that I don't always place the label in a consistent location - that is because I choose a place where the stitches will be minimally noticeable on the front of the quilt. The label is small enough that the stitches aren't very noticeable at all and they haven't bothered me.

    1. Thanks Rosemary! I don't put them on all of my quilts, but I do really like having them around when I want to add them.

  3. Can you give the measurements of the labels you're showing? Do you use a label when the quilt is a gift for a friend or family member, and if you do, do you make it more personal? Thanks!

    1. Great question! Mine are the 1" x 3" woven logo labels. Sometimes I will add a little embroidery to personalize a label, but if I don't have time I just add the label.
