The Rachel Quilt - A New Pattern

The Rachel Quilt Pattern - A Layer Cake Friendly Pattern by Erica of Kitchen Table Quilting
I have a new pattern for you today - this is The Rachel Quilt and it is available as a PDF or paper pattern. It is 20% off in my shop for the rest of the week.

One of my goals with writing patterns has been to write at least one with each type of precut. I have done one that uses a charm pack, one that uses jelly roll strips, and a few different patterns that use fat quarters (herehere, and here) and now I have one that uses a layer cake.

Writing a pattern that did the layer cake justice was a little challenging. Sure, you can always sew 10" squares together to make a patchwork quilt, but it is nice to have a pattern that is simple to construct but that LOOKS like it is tricky.

I wanted a pattern that kept the layer cake squares intact to show off the fabrics and that came together quickly. But I didn't want it to just be a way to use up a layer cake that you have sitting on your shelf - I wanted it to be fun!

The Rachel Quilt is a little twist on a traditional pattern and can be as modern or as traditional as you would like to make it. The pattern is quick - one of my pattern testers said it was the fastest quilt she had ever made. And it really showcases the fabrics in your layer cake.

For my quilt I used some Little Folks Voile that I have been hoarding for ages. I will share more about my quilt in a few days.

I want to take this post to share the beautiful quilts made by my pattern testers.

Patti's Baby Size Version

How sweet is Patti's quilt using mostly Aneela Hoey's Fabrics? Love it!

Linda's Baby Size Version

Linda used gorgeous Liberty fabric to create a subtle and beautiful gradient. How perfect is this for a baby girl?

Camille's Lap Size Version

Camille used Anna Maria Horner's Conservatory collection and it is just to die for. That mustard solid was a brave but excellent choice and I have no words for the quilting. Amazing!

Samantha's Lap Size Version

Samantha made a very sweet lap size version - I am such a sucker for pink and brown.

Sandie's Twin Size Version

Sandie used batiks for her twin size version and I love how her colorful layer cake really pops.

Thank you to all of my pattern testers for your help and for making such wonderful quilts!

I hope you all enjoy this pattern as much as I have!
