The Tessa Quilt in Solids

When I made my very first version of my Tessa Quilt pattern I knew I needed to make a solids version and I finally made it happen this month.

Putting this one together was so much fun. I love blues and greens and this pattern is quick and fun to put together (I promise, there isn't a single y-seam in this quilt).

Edited: I got a better photo and replaced the old one. Yay! Hopefully someday I will get proper photos of this (slightly wrinkly) quilt, but in the meantime, this is all I could manage. We are due for about a week of rain and I didn't want to wait another week to share this one!

The fabrics in this quilt are all Michael Miller Cotton Couture. Their blues and greens and blue/greens are my absolute favorite of any solid brand, in particular Mermaid and Bottle. They are SO GOOD!

Now I think I need to make this pattern again in purples, pinks, and oranges. This is actually my favorite of any pattern I have ever written (and it's also my most popular pattern). I love that it works with just about any fabric.

  1. Really lovely! I love it in these cool solids. And for the record, my garage door has helped me out numerous times! ;-)

    1. Thank you! That garage door is really not quite the same, but it works in a pinch :)

    1. Sounds like a good goal! I did a little tutorial on trimming Tessa in my Instagram story highlights if you are feeling apprehensive about it!

  3. Hi there! I'm wondering if the Tessa Quilt pattern is fat quarter friendly? I purchased Valori Wells Murmur collection; 24 fat quarters, that I would like to use. Thank you!!

    1. I'm sorry, it isn't fat quarter friendly. You can use fat quarters for all but 2 of the fabrics for the baby size, but the lap sizes uses 8 fat quarters and 6 half yard cuts, plus the sashing, background, etc. I tried to make it fat quarter friendly but it just didn't work! If you click on the link below you can see the fabric requirements. You can use a fat quarter for anything that is listed as 1/4 yard.

  4. Erica, I'd love to make this version of Tessa for the Quarantine-Along! Is it possible to tell me the names of the various colors that you used for the solid version? Thank you!

    1. This is what I have written down in my notes and I am pretty sure this is correct - there might be an extra color or two listed here. I wish I had listed them in the post! All of the colors are Michael Miller Cotton Couture.

Glass, bottle, fresh, lilypad, mermaid, saturn, ocean, slate, juniper, clover, riviera, meadow, leaf, turf, jade, soft white, dust, sea, starlight, denim.
