You know when a fabric collection comes and you just cannot wait to get your hands on it? Ok, this happens entirely too often for me, but the new Starry collection by Alexia Abegg is my favorite, favorite, favorite group of prints I have seen in a long time. So pretty, so versatile, so amazing.
Of course I was super thrilled that I was able to get my hands on a bundle to make a version of my new Zoe Quilt Pattern. I love a rainbow quilt, especially a muted rainbow quilt, and Starry was just perfect (sorry to tease you with this fabric collection - it won't be out until later this year!).
Some of the qualities that I look for when I am evaluating how useful a fabric will be in my stash:
- Color - will the colors work will with other collections? Even collections from other manufacturers?
- Will the print be visually distracting in a quilt? This will bug me sometimes about a print I really love (I'm looking at you polka dots!) and I don't find myself using this type of print in a quilt.
- Do I love it? This seems like a simple question, but it is more complicated than that - I want to love the color, pattern, texture, etc.
Starry checks all of these boxes for me and I am keeping this quilt for myself - I haven't kept a quilt in ages!
I know this collection isn't available yet, but here is a list of the colors and the fabric that correspond to in the pattern - notice that I used the same fabric for A and L.
I particularly love seeing the solids version and the Starry version together. They are both rainbow quilts, but they turned out so differently!
If you would like to make your own version of the Zoe Quilt Pattern, you can pick up a copy in my shop.
