Quilt Ideas - Ombre Galaxy Metallic

Last week when I was putting together mockups using the Elena Quilt pattern, I really loved working with V and Co.'s Ombre Galaxy Metallic prints so I thought they deserved their own post.

I have enjoyed Vanessa's ombre lines for a while (see here, here, and here) - there is a reason why they keep making them! I particularly like this collection because of the number of blue/green/purple options so I focused on those in a couple of the mockups.

Quilt Ideas - Starry

You might have noticed (since I have used it several times in mockups of the past few months and once in an actual quilt) that I am a huge fan of Starry by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society

I love it so much that I thought it deserved its own Quilt Ideas post. I am going to repost some of the older mockups for you here, but I also have a few new ones so this post is going to be extra long.

How to Make Any Pattern a Valentine's Quilt

You guys know that I am not generally a big fan of holiday-type quilts. I have made a few (see here, here, here, and here) and I have found that I would usually rather use a non-holiday themed pattern paired with holiday prints.

So this week instead of doing a Quilt Ideas post using a single collection, I am going to show you some non-holiday patterns mocked up in some Valentine's prints.

Another Sylvie Quilt

When it comes to sashing fabric, I tend to play it safe. Usually that means white - maybe a light gray or a low volume print - but I know what works and I usually go for it.

When I wrote my Sylvie quilt pattern, I knew I wanted to try a version with a darker sashing. Last year I made a version of my Tessa pattern using navy sashing and loved it, so I figured I would give that a try.

A Navy Sylvie Quilt - Kitchen Table Quilting

Yes, I know - navy is still kind of playing it safe. It is basically a neutral color, but I am taking baby steps. To go with the navy fabric, I pulled a variety of blues, greens, yellows, and neutrals from my stash. I didn't want anything too dark to blend in with the sashing fabric, so I kept the other prints pretty light.

The Sylvie Quilt in Speckled

My favorite basic fabric right now is Speckled from Ruby Star Society. There is a large range of colors and the prints have little "speckles" of fun colors and metallics that makes them so much fun when mixed with other collections.

But they are also super fun all on their own. RSS recently released some new colors and I have been itching to work with them - they were perfect for the Sylvie Quilt

The Sylvie Quilt - Pattern Testers' Quilts

A Baby Size Sylvie Quilt - Kitchen Table Quilting

Today I get to share my pattern testers' quilts with you! Because this pattern is a little different than what you normally see, I had more testers test the pattern - I wanted to make sure that the pattern was as easy to follow as it is easy to make.

So that means I have a lot of photos here for you! I am always so amazed to see what people do with my patterns and so I am extra excited to share all of these gorgeous photos with you. I have linked to each testers' Instagram account so you can check out more of their work.

The Sylvie Quilt - Baby Version

A while ago I realized that it had been ages since I had made a baby quilt which is crazy because they are my favorite thing to make! Now that I am not as young as I once was, most of my friends are done having kids and I just don't have any babies around.

But then I remembered that I can make whatever I want and I want to make more baby quilts. Conveniently enough, my cousin and his wife are having a baby boy so I decided they needed a baby version of the Sylvie Quilt

The Sylvie Quilt in Tarrytown

I am glad that you are all as excited as I am about this new pattern. When I am designing patterns, I want to stay true to myself but also be able to offer a variety of styles, precut friendly options, etc. in my patterns and the Sylvie Quilt fills a niche that I never get tired of adding to - quick and fun.

The quilt on the cover of the pattern uses Tarrytown by Kim Kight for Ruby Star Society. I have been a fan of Kim's fabrics ever since she released Lucky Strike (the purple floral from that collection is one of my all-time favorite prints) and she has now released a whole bunch of really adorable collections.

New Pattern - The Sylvie Quilt

The Sylvie Quilt Pattern - Kitchen Table Quiltingvie8
You have no idea how excited I have been to share the Sylvie Quilt with you! This one has been floating around in my brain for a while and I finally made it happen.

The Sylvie Quilt Pattern - Kitchen Table Quilting

If you have been around here for a while and have heard me talk about pattern writing, you know that I have a few different goals when writing patterns. These goals vary a little - I like to have variety and keep things interesting, but I also want to be true to myself as a quilter. This new pattern, the Sylvie Quilt, checks some important boxes:
